Chip MSX

  • Synthesis-based formats (executable or standard file, please) that use the following sound systems:
    • SID (6581/6582/8580), VIC, TED (Commodore).
    • POKEY, TIA (Atari).
    • PSG: YM2149, AY-3-89xx, SN764xx (Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX, Sega Game Gear, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive).
    • Philips SAA1099 (SAM Coupé, Game Blaster, Silicon Graphics 😉 ).
    • Yamaha FM: OPL, OPN, OPM families (AdLib, Turbosound FM, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, weird Japanese computers 😉 ).
    • Game Boy family (GB, GBC, GBA).
    • DAVE (Enterprise 64/128).
    • Ricoh 2A03/2A07, Ricoh 2C33 family (NES, Famicom Disk System).
    • Konami RC, VRC6, VRC7, Nintendo MMC5, Namco 163 (NES cartridges).
    • Konami SCC/SCC+ (MSX cartridges).
    • Hudson Soft HuC6280 (PC Engine).
  • The use of samples is prohibited, only pure synthesis!
  • You can use more than one chip at the same time, such as dual SID, two GameBoys playing simultaneously, etc.
  • The work will be reproduced on real hardware. The most popular machines (Commodore 64, Atari XE, etc.) will be available at the party, but please note that we do not have every possible hardware with the aforementioned chips.
  • Song playing time – 3 minutes (songs can be longer, but only their first three minutes will be presented at the party).

For these reasons, we ask that:

  • You contact us in advance to confirm that we will be able to reproduce your work.
  • You provide an MP3 version of the song or a video of the actual equipment (preferred!).
  • If you’re planning a production for even fancier hardware than listed above (such as the TI-82 Calculator), please contact us to confirm that we will admit it to the compo.
